The meltdown of the subprime lending sector has reinvigorated consumer demand for manufactured housing. As a result, foot traffic is up in manufactured housing sales centers across the country and loan applications and sales are now rebounding from historic lows experienced at the height of the subprime lending boom.
With this renewed consumer demand for manufactured housing loans, interest from fixed income investors and analysts has also been piqued. To this end, MHI is pleased to announce that on October 4, 2007, it will host a symposium for analysts and investors. The Manufactured Housing Finance Forum will have a special focus on home-only (chattel) finance and bring together direct lenders, brokers, analysts, investors, REITs, manufactured home producers and other interested parties for a day-long discussion of the past, present and future of manufactured home chattel lending, which comprises the bulk of the outstanding ABS deals.
The Forum will begin with a discussion of the state of the manufactured housing industry and a review of recent trends in both manufactured housing and site-built lending. Panel discussions will feature industry lenders, manufactured home community owners and REITs with in-house lending programs, analysts and investors. The day will conclude with a networking reception for all participants.
