Can you give us a brief profile of your company?
Operating as Cloverleaf Communities, Rimco Properties, Inc is a family-owned company that owns and manages nine manufactured home communities containing 1,900 spaces in southwest Pennsylvania. Five of the communites are “55-and-older” with clubhouses, security patrol, shuttle service, etc. The remaining communities are family-oriented communities. Rimco also owns and manages 800 apartments and two mini-storage facilities in the Pittsburgh area.
A subsidiary, Rimco Financial Services, provides financing for new and used sales in manufactured home communities. For more info, visit www.rimcoproperties.com
Can you tell us a bit about your background?
I’m the son of a successful single-family homebuilder who recognized the potential of using manufactured housing to serve the retirement housing market in the Pittsburgh area. I’m a Vietnam-era veteran and a graduate of Bucknell University. I’m 59 years old, married with two adult daughters. I’ve been in the business of developing and managing manufactured home communities since 1969. The company’s day-to-day operations are now handled by President William Cramer, CPM, and a very capable staff. I now spend a lot of my time assisting nonprofit human service and educational organizations.
What is your company philosophy?
Our mission is to be the leader in the development and management of high quality properties providing a great value, where customer satisfaction is our first priority.
What are you most proud of about your company?
The high quality of our properties and the employees who manage them.
What are some of the challenges currently facing your company?
Keeping spaces in our family community filled in the current low interest rate environment.
Can you name someone in the industry that you admire and why?
George Allen – he’s not afraid to call them as he sees them.
Who are your personal heroes?
My father, Orin Sampson, and the many people across this country who give unselfishly of their time and talents to help their fellow human beings while receiving little or no recognition.
Can you tell us something about yourself that people may find surprising?
I lived in a manufactured home for the first five years of my married life.
