Every two years, the political and policy dynamics in Washington change. The 2018 elections returned divided government to Washington and for the next two years the U.S. House of Representatives will be controlled by a different party than the U.S. Senate and White House. No matter which political party is in power, MHI has secured champions across government so that federal rules and regulations support the industry’s efforts to provide quality homes at affordable prices. MHI is keeping the momentum going in 2019, building upon significant progress and successes we have made in Washington on behalf of the industry.

Our top priorities for 2019 continue to be:

  • Improving the supply of manufactured housing financing.
  • Ensuring HUD Code regulations encourage innovation and are cost effective.
  • Advocating for manufactured housing across Congress and Federal Agencies.
  • Highlighting the benefits of manufactured housing across the federal government.

2018 Consumer Research Findings on Manufactured Housing

MHI recently commissioned an in-depth consumer research project to study the demographics, perceptions, and preferences of manufactured home owners and residents.  The primary goal of the national research project was to update demographic data including:

  • Market trends and shifts over the past six years;
  • Home placement locations;
  • Track age of housing stock;
  • Identify purchase price and current market values;
  • And verify the presence of safety features.

The project also explores a variety of topics including satisfaction and household finances.  This study provides historical comparisons for select data points of our industry’s very own consumers.
