6,697 New HUD-Code Homes Shipped in April 2016 |
In April 2016, 6,697 new manufactured homes were shipped, an increase of 10.0 percent from April 2015, and a decrease of 359 homes or 5.1 percent compared to March 2016. Compared with the same month last year, there were increases in home shipments across the board, with shipments of single section and multi-section homes up by 12.7 percent and 7.7 percent respectively. Total floors shipped in April 2016 were 10,304, an increase of 9.0 percent compared with April 2015. Compared with the prior year, 2016 has recorded shipment increases in the first four months. Shipments from January through April this year totaled 25,683 homes compared with 21,419 homes in 2015, a net increase of 19.9 percent. The seasonally adjusted annual rate (SAAR) of shipments was 73,024 in April 2016, down 17.5 percent from the adjusted rate of 88,499 in March 2016. The SAAR corrects for normal seasonal variations and projects annual shipments based on the current monthly total. The number of plants reporting production in April 2016 was 123 and the number of active corporations was 37, both unchanged from the previous month.
