5,828 New HUD-Code Homes Shipped in May 2015

In May 2015, 5,828 new manufactured homes were shipped, an increase of 1.6 percent from May 2014. Compared with the same month last year, single section home shipments were down 2.5 percent, while shipments of multi-section homes reflected a 5.0 percent gain. Total floors shipped in May 2015 were 9,162 an increase of 2.7 percent compared with May 2014.

Compared with the prior year, 2015 recorded shipment increases in the first five months. Shipments from January through May this year totaled 27,247 homes compared with 25,032 homes in 2014, a net increase of 8.8 percent.

The seasonally adjusted annual rate (SAAR) of shipments was 63,427 in May 2015, down 10.0 percent from the adjusted rate of 70,450 in April 2015. The SAAR corrects for normal seasonal variations and projects annual shipments based on the current monthly total.

The number of plants reporting production in May 2015 was 121, one less than in the previous month. The number of active corporations was 36, two fewer than in the previous month.
