Last week’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) showed a 4.4% annual increase in housing costs, and the 0.4% monthly increase in housing accounted for approximately one-third of the index’s total increase for January. Mortgage rates continue to hover around 7% this year, according to Freddie Mac’s weekly survey.
