The Land-Lease Community of the Year East was awarded to Equity LifeStyle Properties – Village Green.

Village Green is an active, age-qualified community with lush green grass year-round. It is set on nearly 170 acres with 782 home sites. The community was built in three phases, each with a large lake in the center, with fishing or sitting docks on each lake.

Village Green offers three clubhouses, each with swimming pools and whirlpool spas. Each clubhouse features a library, sitting areas, a banquet room with stage, and the Woodland clubhouse offers a fitness center and sauna. Each clubhouse offers a grilling area, full kitchen, dart boards, billiards, horseshoes, shuffleboard courts, bocce ball, tennis and pickleball courts, laundry center, craft room, and regularly planned activities, including quarterly resident events and parties.

The community has three social clubs and a non-governing HOA. Management works together with the social clubs and the HOA to implement as many events as possible, including bus trips, cruises, tours, concerts, casino visits, and daily activities in the community.

Village Green enhanced the lifestyle of residents in the community with several enhancements during 2023. Community amenities were improved for the enjoyment of residents, including the installation of upgraded pool heaters, the resurfacing of a swimming pool and whirlpool spa and upgrades to a sauna.

The community has also added fiber optic service to the property to enhance connectivity for residents. Common areas of the community were beautified with upgrades to the irrigation system, enhancements to the landscaping around the clubhouses and entrances, paving of roadways, and the installation of 150 feet of rip rap along the shores of Woodland Lake.

Recently, Village Green completed an energy efficiency project in which existing light fixtures throughout the community were retrofitted to accommodate energy efficient LED lighting. Further enhancing the energy efficiency of the property’s common areas, new energy efficient air conditioning units were installed in two of the community’s clubhouses.

DOL Urged to Rescind Harmful Overtime Rule

MHI joined its business coalition in a recent letter to the Department of Labor (DOL) to advocate last year’s overbearing final rule on overtime be rescinded.

On Wednesday, MHI joined its business coalition partners in sending a letter to the U.S. Department of Labor urging the agency to delay implementation of the overtime final rule pending judicial review. There are currently four legal challenges to the overtime rule, yet the July 1 effective date has not changed despite this legal uncertainty.
