MHI joined the real estate coalition in its letter requesting a delay of implementation for the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) by the passage of H.R. 9278. This letter, which was sent to Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, is the latest in a series that MHI and the coalition have sent this year regarding the CTA with others being sent in March, June, and April. In the letter, the coalition explains how the CTA creates an overly burdensome environment for small businesses due to its swiftly approaching deadline and steep fines. Additionally, the coalition points out how recent court cases have created confusion about exemptions. The coalition points out how the year-long delay in implementation of the CTA is in line with Congressional intent and will provide the needed time to raise awareness among the small business community about the requirements.
