Last week, the House Appropriations Committee held a hearing to review the President’s proposed budget for the Department of Energy (DOE) for Fiscal Year 2025. Committee members asked questions and commented on the budget requests to DOE Secretary Jennifer Granholm.

Appropriations Committee Chair Chuck Fleischmann (TN-3) spotlighted manufactured housing and referenced the ongoing struggle over the DOE Energy Rule in his opening statement.

“I was pleased to see the Department back-track on the gas stoves rule; I hope to see a similar adjustment to reality on the distribution transformers and manufacturing housing rules,” Fleischmann said. “As the Secretary knows, I’ve been a long-term proponent of the manufacturing housing industry. This is the beginning of the American dream for many lower-income Americans.”

MHI appreciates Chair Fleischmann’s ongoing engagement with the DOE on the Energy Rule and his past work to support manufactured housing.
